ABOUT
SHARED STEPS
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Shared Steps was founded by Jacob Thew, a dedicated support worker with four years of experience in the disability sector and a Certificate IV in Disability Support. Throughout his work, Jacob saw the need for a service that focused not just on support but on real connection and personal growth.
He envisioned a place where young adults with disabilities could build strong ties to their community, develop meaningful life skills, and feel proud of their progress. That vision became Shared Steps, a space where participants are supported to grow as individuals and reach their goals, their way.
WHERE WE OPERATE
Shared Steps operates in the vibrant city of Fremantle, Western Australia. We proudly serve Fremantle and surrounding areas and aim to interact with the amazing Freo community daily.
OUR VALUES
Purpose – Everything we do is intentional. Our programs are designed to help participants grow, build independence, and achieve personal goals, whether through volunteering, skill building or shared experiences. Every activity has real meaning.
Connection – We’re more than just a service, we’re a community where lifelong friendships are formed. At Shared Steps, we create and work as a team, where everyone feels included, supported, and part of something bigger.
Community – We believe in the power of community. By partnering with local businesses, charities, and initiatives, we give participants opportunities to contribute, connect, and feel a sense of pride and belonging in the world around them.
